The Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival is a non-profit event held annually in Los Angeles, focused on amplifying Brazilian cinema during awards season. From 2019 to 2022, I led the festival’s visual identity, using design as a strategic tool to support a small but culturally relevant event gaining momentum within the Brazilian film community in Los Angeles.
Each edition of the festival is built around a specific cultural theme, which serves as the foundation for the visual system and creative direction.

In 2019, following ten editions, the festival lost its funding and faced possible cancellation. With only two months before the scheduled date, the decision was made to move forward under severe time and budget constraints.
That first year, the visual identity was inspired by Cordel, a traditional Northeastern Brazilian art movement. The challenge was to translate its graphic language into a contemporary, flexible system that could convey credibility, cultural depth, and professionalism—without the resources typically available to larger festivals. By prioritizing clarity, strong typography, and adaptable layouts, the design maximized impact while remaining cost-efficient.
In the following years, the thematic approach evolved with each edition, shifting to new culturally relevant concepts while maintaining a cohesive visual framework. This system allowed the festival to grow consistently, strengthening its presence year over year. Today, the Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival is supported by respected sponsors and culturally influential voices within the Brazilian film industry in Los Angeles.
